For the kids. By the Kids.K is for Kids® Teen Advisory Team: the Voice, Energy & Inspiration Fueling Our Mission

Recently 30 young volunteers from local high schools and middle schools  met to record a new Public Service Announcement by Alpha Media.  Here our first team is shown getting in position for their 2nd PSA.

In January, world class beauty Naples Bay Resort was the gathering ground for thirty teens at the first 2010 Teen Advisory Team meeting for K is for Kids® Foundation.  After a brief introduction from Founder Karen D. Clawson, a presentation from senior T.A.T. member, Cory, and tips on how to speak “on camera” by videographer David Fralick of Alpha Media, the kids got down to business, breaking into groups to discuss how they could encourage younger kids to read more and inspire others to join their cause.  Then the business of recording their message began for the Foundation’s public service announcement.  First up was the videotaping promoting the Foundation’s Bring a Book, Bring a Friend® for Children’s Literacy Month in February, and then the upcoming book fair and fun’raiser in March at Barnes & Noble at Waterside Shops.

Members of K is for Kids® Foundation’s Teen Advisory Team create many marketing ideas, from campaign slogans to t-shirt design; and speak as spokespersons for the Foundation in its PSAs and at its literacy events.  The teens also help younger children attending the events with scavengers hunts, face painting, and more.
