Comcast to Air Students’ PSA on Cable

The news keeps getting more exciting for the Southwest Florida students in the From the Heart Teen Fashion Festival on February 9th: Comcast Cable will be airing the students’ video….

promoting the charity event in the weeks beforehand.

From the Heart Teen Fashion Festival 2013 PSA

The PSA features teen leaders and student volunteers from around Collier County inviting the public to their From the Heart Teen Fashion Festival on February 9, 2013. The event features models, talent acts, a silent auction and raffle prizes. The keynote speaker is Craig Bouchard, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Shale-Inland. A special section will showcase younger elementary school models, too.

Shown here is a screen shot of the teens’ PSA promoting their upcoming From the Heart Teen Fashion Festival, February 9, 2013. The PSA will be aired by Comcast on cable TV. Event co-chair and K is for Kids spokesperson Patrick Clawson, a student at Gulf Coast High School, is shown with pictures from last year’s inaugural charity event, the Head to Toe Teen Fashion Show held in December 2011. The show was such a success that K is for Kids moved the show to become its signature event in February during its Bring a Book, Bring a Friend for Children’s Literacy Month. Pictured at left are the co-chairs who created the event as a fun way for kids to earn their community service hours needed for high school and to boost their resumes for college and career, Erin Clawson (left) and Ali Martin, then seniors at Gulf Coast High School.  K is for Kids teen leaders and spokespersons have been planning the event for months.  holding photo shoots, producing PSAs and creating the PR campaign.  More than 50 models and talent acts have begun rehearsals representing high schools from all around Collier and Lee Counties. College students have gotten in on the act, too, as as interns, spokespersons and consultants to the younger students, and are from a wide range of universities: Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), Florida State Univeristy (FSU), University of Central Florida (UCF), and even as far away as Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST)!

Presented by Barron Collier High School and K is for Kids Foundation in association with Collier County Public Schools, a second PSA is being shown at area high schools.  Students may serve earn community service hours for high school and service learning hours for college, and may boost their resumes by serving in leadership role

The students’ charity event is a county wide community project promoting literacy and leadership. Health Management Associates has signed up to be the headline sponsor.

Subtitled a “Bring a Book, Bring a Friend Fun’raiser” the charity show will help to raise funds and collect books for children in need. Proceeds will benefit K is for Kids’ Rising Readers program for Collier County students with a portion going to Barron Collier High’s Helping Hands for Prom program.

Much appreciation goes to Barron Collier High School for hosting the teens second fashion show and inviting students from all around southwest Florida to participate!
