Nine teens representing the Teen Advisory Team Council gathered on Wednesday, December 29th, to discuss activities and events for the upcoming Bring a Book, Bring a Friend for Children’s Literacy Month. It was the first time the council held a formal committee meeting. Present were (in alphabetical order): Ali, Avnee, Cory, Erin, Jasna, Matt, Radhu, Sydney, and Tyler. Also present was Founder Karen Clawson and Advisory Council member Janine Jones. Matt headed the meeting and Jasna took the minutes.
Votes were taken on a range of items including the approval to go ahead with an art contest for middle school students across Collier County with the name “Power of the Word” approved and prizes recommended for top finalists and winners; to hold a “Philanthropizza” fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen in late January; and a scavenger hunt was proposed for the Kids Celebrate Reading book fair & book drive to be held again at Barnes & Noble, Waterside Shops, Naples. Six teens signed up to be spokespersons for the new PSA and the BABBAF promo to be produced by InTroubleZone Productions.Teen Advisory Team Council Meeting
