Put your hands together for Lely High School for hosting the largest school-sponsored book drive. Our student leaders raise the bar even higher!
They set the record for most books ever donated by a single school and was one of the top highest value collections donated! A total of 1,490 books at 8.37 each were collected. The value total was close to $12,500. Co-presidents of Operation Outreach, Bree Gelin and Sara Saintil expressed their feelings regarding the results of the book drive.
” I was surprised by the turnout of the book drive. I did not expect so many books! We definitely pulled through and filled up that warehouse. Everyone participated, there was not a single bucket that didn’t have at least one book, so that made me happy.”
– Bree Gelin, Co-President of Operation Outreach
“Hosting the book drive at our school was something that we had never done before, so it was really exciting to plan it out and organize it. We honestly did not expect not collect so many books. Collecting 1,500 books was absolutely amazing! It felt really good to collect so many books and know that they would be given to children in need. I really enjoyed doing that!”
