K is for Kids is expanding its popular Top Reader Book Awards this year thanks to a grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation.Launched at the end of school year 2011-12, the program quickly proved to be K is for Kids’ most popular with principals, educators, and parents – and especially the young honorees. It will mark the first time many of the students have ever received an award.
In 2015, K is for Kids helped educators in 28 schools across Collier County celebrate the reading achievements of 1,175 students!
(Editor’s update: K is for Kids distributed $16,000 in funding this year!)
While the majority of K is for Kids’ grantees celebrate on campus; this year the foundation is able to expand the number of schools ands students who will have the opportunity to visit Barnes & Noble Bookstore so they may personally select their books and enjoy a complimentary lunch at California Pizza Kitchen.
For many of the students, the event marks their FIRST trip to a bookstore.
