Lisa Trebilcock will be signing her popular book N is for Naples for children at the 5th annual “Kids Celebrate Reading” Book Fair, Saturday, February 23rd at Barnes & Noble.

The bookseller is located at the Waterside Shops in Naples.  The event is hosted each year by K is for Kids’ student leaders.

Lisa’s debut children’s book has been an instant hit in town and many grandparents have been purchasing the books for their grandchildren.  “We keep having to order more,” reported Kristy Malloy, owner of Gigi’s Children’s Boutique at the Mercado in north Naples.

N is for Naples” features clever rhymed verses and engaging illustrations to depict the many opportunities for family fun in the greater Naples area – including the beach, wildlife and area attractions.   “I wrote the book with my own children in mind, wanting to capture all they have experienced in Naples growing up and all they would look back on,” said Trebilcock.  “I’m thrilled with how the illustrations brought the pages to life.”  The book was illustrated by Cheri Nowak who is based in New York City.

The “Kids Celebrate Reading” book fair is one of the top events that teen volunteers for K is for Kids host each year during the Foundation’s literacy month.  The book fair begins at noon and ends at 3:00 p.m.

Also appearing at the book fair will be family entertainer Walt Timoney who will be doing a puppet show and balloon twisting for kids of all ages.

(NAPLES, FL) – “N is for Naples” children’s book author Lisa Trebilcock is set to headline the 5th Annual “Kids Celebrate Reading” Book Fair at Barnes & Noble in Naples on Saturday, February 23rd from noon to 3 p.m.  The author will be reading from her book and signing it.

Illustrated by Cheri Nowak, local merchants report “N is for Naples” has proven popular with both local families and visiting snowbirds.  “The book has been selling so well.” said Kristy Malloy, owner of Gigi’s Children’s Boutique at Mercado, “All of our customers love the illustrations and how the book is written about Naples.”

The book fair is sponsored by K is for Kids Foundation each year during its literacy month as a way to encourage children to read more and to help place more books into the hands of children in need. The Foundation’s teen volunteers will be hosting lots of free fun activities for children and their families, including a scavenger hunt, story writing, prizes and a raffle for a basket of books.

Family entertainer Walt Timoney will also be on hand treating kids to a puppet show and  twisting balloons.

Participants will also be writing a book together. Photographer Lane Wilkinson will return this year to create complimentary portraits of the young authors to accompany their story. The commemorative book is published each by the Foundation.

Throughout the afternoon Collier County media specialists who have been awarded grant monies from K is for Kids will also be on hand as they enjoy their annual “shopping spree” given by the Foundation.  As they select books needed for their students, the media specialists will be interacting with young guests about what books they like to read and would like to see placed in their school libraries.

The event is part of K is for Kids “Bring a Book, Bring a Friend” for Children’s Literacy Month; participants are encouraged to dust off their own bookshelves at home and bring along a book for a child in need or to purchase one at the event.  A portion of the proceeds will also benefit the Foundation.  The books will be distributed by K is for Kids to children in need throughout Collier County.
