Two Students Recognized for their Achievements at Top Leaders Reception

Each year, K is for Kids’ top “student executives” are honored for their outstanding contributions to the foundation’s community outreach and success.

At the Top Leaders Reception held on April 30th at Barron Collier High School, high school seniors Gabriella Manuszak and Daylin Baez both reeled in awards and won scholarships for their accomplishments. The awards were presented to them by founder Karen Clawson.

“Gabriella has been active with the foundation for several years, had began taking on leadership positions in her junior year. This year she served a double internship – quite an achievement for a high school student,” said Karen. “Daylin has also served a full internship with us,” Karen said. “Gabriella won Young Entrepreneur this year, and Daylin has won third and fourth places both years.”

The reception is held each year in conjunction with K is for Kids’ annual YES Comp. (Young Entrepreneur Scholarship Competition). Click here to read more https://kisforkids.org/news/the-yes-comp-2016/

Karen Clawson’s son, Patrick Clawson, had the foresight to bring a sustainable program to students on high school campuses that would offer leadership opportunities for years to come. In recognition of Patrick’s vision to help build and sustain a leadership program for high school students on their campuses, this scholarship was awarded to the student who continued this vision. Additionally, Daylin received a Certificate of Internship recognizing her for her full internship with Collier County Public Schools as well as a certificate of Outstanding Achievement.

Both students served on the foundation’s top leadership council, DOSA-Directorate of Student Agenda. DOSA members serve as the foundation’s “young executives” who oversee the mission and activities of all high school student volunteers.  The council is comprised of presidents of Operation: Outreach, a “ladder for leaders” club on high school campuses that serve with the motto “Climb higher. Help Others.”
